J Mascis
Joseph Donald Mascis Jr, or J Mascis as he is more commonly known, was the singer, guitarist and main songwriter for alternative rock band Dinosaur Jr. Initially a drummer, he switched to guitar after founding Dinosaur Jr alongside bassist Barlow and drummer Murph. It was with this band that he acheived national success. His guitar riffs have been described as ‘monolithic’ by many.

Andy Summers
Andrew Summers, more professionally known as Andy Summers is a British guitarist who was a member of rock band, ‘The Police’. He initially started out on the piano but after years of lessons, he moved onto guitar. He played jazz guitar from a young age and achieved international fame in his role as guitarist for ‘The Police’. Unofficially (without credit), Summers wrote the guitar riff for “Every Breath You Take”. The song was a hit, going on to be number one for eight weeks.
