Dave Davies
Dave Davies, born February 1947, is a British singer-songwriter and guitarist. Davies is the lead guitarist for English rock band, The Kinks. Over his career, Davies has played many guitar, but the most memorable must be the Gibson Flying V. Davies had full responsibility for the signature distorted power chord sound on the first song released by The Kinks. The Kinks were very successful and Davies at guitar was surely one of the catalysts.
Tom Verlaine
Singer-songwriter, guitarist Verlaine is most well-known for his role as front-man of NYC rock band, Television. Initially, Verlaine has little interest in the guitar aspect of both rock and jazz. It was only after hearing the Rolling Stones’ “19th Nervous Breakdown”, that he developed some interest. It was at this point that he began a lengthy time of experimenting, to discover his own personal style. Verlaine, alongside his future bandmate Richard Hell, once escaped boarding school in order to move to New York City and begin his musical career.
