Buddy Holly
Buddy Holly was the prime influence of future heroes—George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Jeff Baker to becoming guitar players. His style was quite basic: country and blues blended rhythm and theme. Playing his Stratocaster and being the head of a two-guitar bass drum quartet, Holly basically invented the rock band. “Listen to the songs from the first three albums of the Beatles,” said John Melenkamp. “Turn off their voices, and it’s Buddy Holly.”
Mike Campbell
Campbell served as Tom Petty’s lead guitarist for over 40 years and knows just how to make a song tick. He never clutters up a song with notes. He also worked as a session guitarist with a number of acts and even replaced the lead guitarist of Fleetwood Mac, Lindsay Buckingham, on their world tour in 2018-19. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002 as a member of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
