During her moment in the limelight, rumors circulated that Nadya was abusing her children. It made sense because becoming a single mother with 14 children must be difficult, and it must take a lot of effort to meet all of the children’s needs. Child Protective Services was also called upon to investigate the situation. They investigated whether it was true that Nadya was neglecting her children, but when they visited her home, they found no evidence of neglect and concluded that the rumors were false – they also believed that her home was appropriate for children.

Regrettably, despite what Child Protective Services said, another person with real control over Nadya’s life vehemently disagreed that her home was appropriate for her children. Her landlord didn’t like the idea and told Nadya that she had broken the terms of her contract. Furthermore, he informed the press about Nadya’s condition before evicting her and her 14 children. Nadya simply wanted to be a good mother to her children, but they were on the verge of being homeless, so she took drastic action.
