Patrick Bruce Metheny (born August 12, 1954) is a jazz guitarist and composer from the United States. He is the founder and leader of the Pat Metheny Group, as well as performing duets, solo pieces, and various side projects. His music combines progressive and modern jazz, Latin jazz, and jazz fusion components. Metheny has three gold albums and 20 Grammy Awards to his credit, making him the first person to win Grammys in ten different categories. Mike Metheny, a jazz flugelhornist, is his brother.
