Two canals were built with the same purpose in the decades that followed. The Canal Saint-Denis and the Canal de l’Ourcq were being built by authorities. The latter was 3.4 meters wide and 108 kilometers long. It ran from Port-Aux-Perches to the Bassin de la Villette, where it joined the Canal Saint-Martin.
