In the 1960’s and 1970’s, before the dangers of smoking were widely recognized, cigarette advertisements were ubiquitous. With the kid-friendly Joe Camel and the world-famous silent Marlboro Man. Alternatively, as the Lucky Strike slogan stated, “It’s toasted.” However, as public opinion shifted away from smoking, tobacco advertising on billboards was prohibited.
