Combining socks and sandals was a controversial fashion statement and social phenomenon discussed in several countries and cultures. It was also deemed as a fashion faux pas in some places. We could not understand why Baby Boomers thought that the combination was a good idea. One of the sandals’ purposes was to eliminate the need for socks, so wearing them together was ridiculous.
